Why can using popups for video be so effective?
It’s not because of the coolness of the popup action itself (that’s a short-lasting ‘gimmick’) – it’s because it enables you to focus the attention of your visitor onto the video. Plus, you can show larger videos without worrying about ‘breaking’ the web page and turning things ugly (where the video ends up wider than the width of the content column of your web page).
